Emotions! 9-3-6/24

This week we started off by reading The Color Monster. In this book, the Color Monster is feeling all con-jumbled because his feelings area all mixed up. Through out the book, a little girl ( and us as a class) helps him sort his emotions into jars, identifying each one and how they can make him (or us) feel and we discussed how we could help him too!

In our touch table all of our "emotions" (pom poms) got mixed together and we had to work cooperatively to separate them into their proper jar.

On Tuesday for art we used dot markers, listening to different types of music, slow, fast, quiet and loud, to see how it made us feel and express our art as such.

On Wednesday and Thursday, we made stomp art! Using bubble wrap and paint, flipped over on paper, our friends pretended they were angry and getting their frustration out in a healthy way by stomping and painting at the same time!

In the science center, we used emotion mirrors to practice different emotions and how our faces look when we are feeling each emotion.

Using play-dough we tried  to make different faces to represent the emotions too! Some of our faces got pretty silly.

We ended our week with our first Chapel days, learning Jesus Loves Me and what the sanctuary is and who will be doing Chapel with us. Mr. Nathan (music), Ms. Gwyn, (music) and Ms. Christa( does a story).

Next week: Five Senses!!
