Hibernation! Jan 27-31/25

What an amazing week we had learning all about hibernation.

Our friends were very surprised by some of the animals that hibernate and how they hibernate. It was made very well known that no one wants to hibernate in mud like frogs.

For art we made our own dens, lairs or burrows. Using paper bowls, on Monday and Tuesday we painted them and Wednesday and Thursday we covered them in moss.

In dramatic play we added warm clothes to act like the animals and their coats some of them grow to keep warm all winter long.

For the sensory table we added moss, hibernating animals, dens and our friends were able to make the animals get ready for winter and hibernate.

 We brought back out a favorite this week, Floam!

In the science center we added bark from trees, moss and magnifying glasses to explore them closer. 

A favorite this week was definitely P.J. Days. Our friends loved being in their jammies at school!

 

Arctic/Polar Animals! Jan 20-24/25

 Brrr.. What a "chilly" week we had in the classroom.

Our friends loved learning and exploring about Arctic and Polar Animals.

For art and name recognition we used penguins to paint name papers. 

We also used paper plates and paint to ice skate across big paper. This used large motor skills along with working on coordination skills. Staying up right on slick surfaces can be tricky!

Different blocks were added to the block center. The friends weren't too sure about them at first. " Why are they skinny?"     " Are you sure they are blocks?"    " How do  we build with them?" 

After some encouraging and planning out, many different ways were found to use the new blocks. 

In dramatic play we added different Arctic and Polar stuffed Animals.

At the science center we added binoculars to look for the animals throughout the room.

In the touch table we added packing peanuts to represent snow and ice, and different animals to play in. 

The favorite of this week was music class!
